The Art and Story Behind Silhouettes by Elle

My journey with hand-cut silhouette art began in 2008 at Croton Community Nursery School in New York, where I had the incredible opportunity to learn this timeless craft under the guidance of Ms. Ann, a devoted teacher who shared her love for hand-cut silhouettes.

I quickly fell in love with the art form—its intricate techniques, its history, and the joy of seeing children’s and pets’ profiles transformed into lasting keepsakes. That experience sparked a passion that continues to guide my work today.

Since 2013, I have dedicated myself to creating heirloom-quality, hand-cut silhouette portraits. Each piece is meticulously crafted using the finest materials and precision scissors, with many enhanced by handwritten Copperplate calligraphy for an extra touch of elegance. Every portrait is an original work of fine art, designed to capture the essence of your loved ones and endure for generations.

At Silhouettes by Elle, I strive to blend artistry, tradition, and craftsmanship to create timeless silhouettes—whether for children, pets, or family members—that become cherished treasures. My goal is that each portrait feels personal, meaningful, and enduring, preserving the moments you hold most dear.
